EMS Education at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital

The Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Medical Services System has more than 40 years of experience as an Illinois Department of Public Health Resource Hospital. Education opportunities include the training of Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Emergency Communication Registered Nurses. Our DNV accredited health care facility is also an EMS Resource Hospital with access to clinical areas at seven Associate Hospitals and 15 Provider agencies.

Our faculty and staff have the expertise needed to provide the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domain experiences which are necessary to produce quality prehospital health care providers. Our graduates enjoy great success in passing the Paramedic licensure examination and in subsequent job placement. The program is held annually from September through August. Affiliation with the College of DuPage provides our students with college credit, educational tracts, payment plans, and degree possibilities. Counseling, veterans’ benefits, and financial aid are also available through the college. Applications are found on the college’s website each spring.

Paramedics

The Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Paramedic Program (#600352) is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Profession (CoAEMSP). CAAHEP accredited Paramedic programs track and report outcome measures annually to the CoAEMSP.

Program Goal: To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels.

Emergency Medical Technicians

The Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Medical Services System also supervises the Emergency Medical Technician programming and other EMS related classes at the College of DuPage (COD).

Emergency Communications Registered Nurses

Together with other Illinois EMS Region VIII EMS Systems we host Emergency Communications Registered Nurses courses for Emergency Department RNs on an annual basis.
