Applying to our program

As per the recommendations of the AAMC and APPD, we will be conducting all interviews virtually for the 2023-2024 interview season. We are confident you will be able to get to know us and we will get to know you throughout this process!

Interview season for the Advocate Children’s Hospital-Park Ridge Residency program will begin mid October and end mid January. We have crafted our virtual interview day with the goal of supporting medical students working on clinical rotations, allowing for interviewees from all time zones, and providing ample time for you to get to know our program.

We evaluate all applications based on merit, regardless of the applicant’s race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, disability or any other legally protected group status. We conduct a holistic review on all applications to search for best fit for our program’s mission, vision and values.

All applications must be received through ERAS and must include the following:

  • Complete ERAS application
  • USMLE Step 1 OR COMLEX Level 1 Score with application (Step 2/Level 2 must be received by February 1, 2023)
  • Personal Statement
  • Dean’s Letter (MSPE)
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation (Chair’s letter is NOT required)

We will begin offering interviews on October 11, 2023 and will notify all applicants of offer status, including wait list offers, by December 1, 2023.

Interview offers will be extended via email using Thalamus. We extend offers after 4pm CST to respect clinical rotations. We do NOT extend more interview offers than we have spots available.

Interviews are held on Mondays and Tuesdays. We will host a virtual get together with the residents the night before each interview from 6:30-7:30pm CST.
