Curriculum

The two-year fellowship is divided into 4-week blocks. Fellows will devote one third of their time to Core Pediatric Hospital Medicine Rotations, one third to Systems and Scholarship Rotations, and one third to Individualized Rotations.

Core Pediatric Hospital Medicine Rotations include the inpatient teaching hospitalist services at Park Ridge Hospital and Oak Lawn Hospital, Admitting/Independent Hospitalist, Critical Care, Newborn Care, and Community Hospitalist rotation at Evanston Hospital.

Systems and Scholarship Rotations include Medical Education and Advocacy, Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, Business Administration and Leadership, and Research blocks.

Individualized rotations are selected by each fellow based on their career goals and plans. Opportunities for such rotations include but are not limited to: Pain Management and  Palliative Care, Sedation, Child Abuse Pediatrics, Complex Care, Behavioral Health, Infectious Diseases, Emergency Medicine, Neonatology, Transport Medicine and Telehealth, Airway Management and Anesthesiology, Global Health, Surgical or Medical Subspecialty, Radiology, Ethics, and others.

Conferences and Didactics
Learning happens in a wide range of didactics and activities. Some of the opportunities for fellows include:

  • Graduate Medical Education Research Lecture Series organized by the Advocate Children’s Hospital Center for Pediatric Research
