Welcome to the Advocate Christ Family Medicine Residency Program where we offer a unique training experience. We believe Family Medicine is a challenging discipline that requires a strong intellect and a dedicated soul.

Advocate Christ Medical Center is a comprehensive-care teaching and research hospital located one-half hour from downtown Chicago. It has 749 beds, a Level I trauma center and Level III NICU. Advocate Christ is a recognized leader in cardiovascular medicine, emergency, surgery, neuroscience, oncology and women's health services. Since 1996, it has shared its campus with Advocate Children's Hospital - Oak Lawn, a four-story facility that has 45 private inpatient rooms, a fifteen-bed pediatric intensive care unit and a nine-bed pediatric surgical heart unit.

The specialty care and training that our residents receive at these two facilities is unsurpassed and offers a tremendous learning environment for Family Physicians. Our diverse patient population and the strength of Family Medicine in our community ensure an education true to the ideals of our specialty. Our residency supports its learners with compassion and respect for the rigors of the specialty.

Since 1974, this program has been training Family Physicians who are leaders both locally and nationally.

Mission statement

The Advocate Christ Family Medicine Residency Program trains exceptional family physicians who are committed to continuous learning and excellence. Our physicians serve their patients and community with a holistic and family-centered approach.

Philosophy

The Advocate Christ Family Medicine Residency Program seeks to meet the needs of our region by training family physicians who will serve primarily as clinicians, and who will be competent and motivated to provide community-oriented primary care to the underserved. The program is dedicated to giving physicians a postgraduate education that will prepare them in the comprehensive, continuous and personal health care of the highest quality to patients and their families in a variety of settings. It strives to ground graduates in the practice of evidence-based medicine in a holistic fashion - to prepare physicians who will be proficient both in the art and the science of medicine - and thus to be instrumental in meeting the healthcare objectives of our nation.
