Osteopathic medicine & manipulation training

Advocate Christ Family Medicine Residency Program is ACGME accredited with Osteopathic Recognition.  Residents are encouraged to fully incorporate the philosophy and principles of osteopathic medicine into all patient encounters. Furthermore, they are encouraged to use their OMT skills on any patient that might benefit from it, both in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

In the Family Medicine Center, there are OMT rooms and tables available to easily incorporate osteopathic techniques into patient care. Residents receive hands on training with supervision from D.O. faculty. Residents have the opportunity to practice comprehensive osteopathic treatments in the OMT clinic, as well as learn to quickly incorporate techniques into their regular clinic schedule. Additionally, residents learn how to effectively document OMT treatments and learn how to properly code and bill for their services.

The residents attend monthly on-site OMT lectures and skills workshops throughout the course of their residency training. In addition to all of the opportunities above, outpatient OMT electives are available for residents to gain even more experience.
