Brian Chicoine, MD is the Medical Director of the Adult Down Syndrome Center and supervises the resident research and scholarly activity projects.

  • Reason I chose Advocate Lutheran General Family Medicine: As a medical student I chose ALGH because it was the highest quality Family Medicine program in the Chicago area and the attendings and residents seemed to be quality people and physicians. As a practicing physician, I came back to Advocate Lutheran General Family Medicine for pretty much the same reasons. The opportunity to work and teach with this group was too attractive to pass up.
  • Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy being with my family - my wife, Kathy, and our 3 daughters, Emily, Caitlin, and Laura and our grandson, Cole, as well as our large extended family. I enjoy exercising in a variety of ways and look forward to my next triathlon.
  • Favorite TV Show: Sports. Baseball, hockey, football, basketball, soccer, and Australian football when I can find it on the television.

Along with academic excellence, everyone at the program creates a supportive family environment. Furthermore, the hospital and clinic have great opportunities and experiences necessary to excel as a physician. I also found the environment welcoming and saw that it provides the highest quality of patient care. I'm glad I get to continue to grow at this hospital.

  • Reason I chose Advocate Lutheran General Family Medicine: I first came to ALGH as a resident because it was invested in training excellent physicians in a supportive and collaborative environment. I am part of faculty now because I found ALGH to be all that and so much more. It is a joy to be part of this community, to work with these colleagues, and to practice medicine together.
  • Hobbies/Interests: Spending time with my husband and children, including my daughter with Down syndrome. We love to hike, spend time outdoors, and see friends and family. I also love to cook and am learning to garden.

Many years later, I am still honored to be a part of this family. The faculty, residents, and staff continue to astound me in the supportive, caring, and inquisitive environment they create.

Kimberly Miller
Kimberley Miller, PHD is a graduate from McLaren Behavioral Medicine Education Fellowship and Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital Internship programs, who provides Evidence Based Interventions for a variety of behavioral and mental health conditions to patients in the practice and behavioral health education to Resident Physicians. Dr. Miller is the Director of Behavioral Health in the Family Medicine Residency.

  • Reason I chose Advocate Lutheran General Family Medicine: I initially applied to Lutheran based on the position available. What moved me to commit to the program was the recruitment process and interview. Throughout the process I was struck by the team camaraderie and respect for each other. I felt the same respect and value towards myself even as just prospective. Since starting the same sense of respect, camaraderie and support continues to be present each day. I also was excited by the program's dedication to innovation and improvement. The ideas I had for my role were met with enthusiasm and excitement that made me want to become a part of a team that is so eager to really embrace the "life-long learning" perspective of patient care.
  • Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy spending time with my dog, Frank. I also enjoy cooking, baking, finding new places to eat, doing manicures for myself and friends and talking to my friends and family.
