Outpatient clinical experiences

The resident acute care and continuity clinics are just down the street from the Children's Hospital. Our primary care clinic boasts four core general pediatricians as a constant presence, promoting patient continuity and diversity in resident education. During your ambulatory clinic rotation, you will receive clinic morning report, daily teaching sessions led by residents and faculty alike. We pride ourselves in the broad experience that you will receive in general pediatric clinic and traditionally we exceed the ACGME requirements in this area

During your elective rotations, you will receive exposure to outpatient subspecialty care.

Each resident participates in a longitudinal outpatient clinical experience during their PGY3 in their field of interest, whether subspecialty or general pediatrics. Senior residents may also elect to rotate through other outpatient general pediatrics clinics for additional diverse exposures.

To allow for maximal resident-patient continuity, we have created a “teams” model for residents. The 39 residents are divided until 6 teams, identified by colors. Not only does this model allow for increased outpatient clinic continuity, it parallels post-residency outpatient clinic models.
