Application process

Selection Process

The resident selection process will be conducted by a committee that includes the Chair, Program Director, Program Coordinator, key core faculty and present residents reviewing PASS applications and conducting onsite visits for applicants. Applicants are screened on a variety of criteria including personal statements, board scores, letters of recommendation from faculty, dean’s letters, CV, and if applicable/available class rank and GPA. The committee, led by the Program Director, then extends formal interviews to selected applicants. The selected group of applicants will be invited to participate in a formal, one-day program visit and interview event which will be scheduled early in October. The program for the day includes an overview presentation of the program, tours of facilities conducted by present residents and interviews with a faculty group. The participating faculty group will develop a score for each of the candidates and selections will be based on those scores. This selection process is consistent with Advocate GME policy.
