PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency

Required rotations
These rotations are planned for two- to six-week blocks depending on the learning experience as outlined below:

  • Orientation (four weeks)

  • Pharmacy integrated (one week if previous Epic experience, two weeks if no previous Epic experience)
  • Adult infectious diseases (eight weeks)
  • Pediatric infectious diseases/Pediatric handshake stewardship (six weeks)
  • Adult antimicrobial stewardship (six weeks)
  • Adult ID/ASP II (four weeks)
  • Hospital epidemiology (two weeks)
  • Microbiology (three weeks)
  • Research project (Longitudinal)
  • Project management (Longitudinal)
  • Clinical weekend staffing in critical care (Longitudinal)

Elective rotations
You’re free to select elective rotations in clinical areas of your choice including:

  • Any of the above required rotations (four weeks)
  • HIV clinic (longitudinal, dependent on ID provider availability/schedule)
  • Community ID stewardship (four weeks)
  • Critical care (MCICU/SICU/NCCU) (four weeks)
  • Emergency medicine (four weeks)
  • Pediatrics (PICU/NICU/General pediatrics/Hematology/Oncology) (two to four weeks)
  • Adults BMT/Hematology/Oncology (four weeks)
  • Teaching certificate program (if not previously completed during PGY1) (Longitudinal)

Resident qualifications:
At minimum, the resident candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for selection:

  • Expected to complete an ASHP-accredited or candidate PGY1 pharmacy residency without remediation and able to provide the certificate at the start of the PGY2 program
  • Must have graduated from an ACPE-Accredited College of Pharmacy in the United States
  • Currently a citizen of the United States (ALGH does not sponsor H1B or equivalent Work Visas)
Application submission via Phorcas must include:
  • At minimum, 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Transcripts from College of Pharmacy
  • Personal Statement/Letter of Intent
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Pre-registered for the ASHP “Match” program
