Physician Resiliency Initiative in Medicine (PRIM)

  • A Resident Committee chaired by Dr. Victoria Montgomery, Associate Program Director
  • Provides educational series of didactic lectures designed to provide information/ awareness of fatigue, work/life balance, burnout and substance abuse
  • PRIM Burnout Survey – confidential measure to monitor burnout
  • Provides residents with activities to promote resilience such as Secret Santa, pumpkin decorating, haunted house decorating contest, cookie making, scavenger hunt, hot chocolate bar, resident appreciation week loaded with sweets, snacks and gifts

Onsite fitness center

  • Located at Advocate Lutheran General Outpatient Center - Parkside 1875 Dempster St. Ground Floor, Suite G01
  • Residents get free membership
  • Offer a variety of classes, fitness equipment and a pool.

Personal services offered by the fitness center for a fee:

  • Personal Fitness Profile: This comprehensive assessment tests your aerobic capacity, flexibility, body composition, blood pressure and strength. Then we examine your exercise patterns to understand your lifestyle and your fitness goals.
  • Nutrition Consultation: We provide practical ways to incorporate healthy eating into your lifestyle, to help achieve your goals.
  • Individual Exercise Plan: We design a customized plan that works for you. It's your personal road map for success.
  • Center and Equipment Orientation: We show you how to use all of our equipment, to help you feel comfortable working out with us and decrease your risk for injuries.

Jeopardy program

Provides support during emotional and/ or physical crisis during work hours, on call or float hours.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • Helps residents' obtain confidential counseling and referral services

Advocate Crisis fund

The Advocate Crisis fund is intended to embody Mission and Spiritual Care’s commitment to the core value of compassion. The purpose of the fund is intended to provide financial assistance to Advocate Associates in cases of temporary financial crisis.

An associate is eligible to access the crisis fund once every two years with an employment lifetime limit of $3,000. The maximum amount of funds to be awarded to an individual in one instance of need will be $1,000.

Mentorship program

  • Provides residents with an advocate within or outside the department to help manage workplace challenges
