The mission of the Advocate Christ Medical Center Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program with Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle (PMSR with RRA) is to train podiatric residents as health professionals. Residents will be involved in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of foot and ankle disorders by medical, physical and surgical means. The program provides for podiatric training in a multi-disciplinary setting in a large, Level 1 trauma center. Residents will gain experience working with and alongside other medical practitioners in providing total health care.
The residency program is designed to provide a diverse and intensive clinical and surgical experience in order to supplement the resident's previous podiatric medical experience. This podiatric surgical training program is part of a premier Level I trauma center at a major teaching facility. The responsibilities placed on the residents will be substantial and challenging. In addition, Advocate Children's Hospital is part of the institution and program. The diverse population offered by the Advocate Children's Hospital provides an excellent resource for more robust training. The PMSR program with RRA is accredited through the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME). The residents will participate in rotations, including anesthesiology, emergency medicine, infectious disease, orthopedic surgery, pediatric orthopedics, general surgery, vascular surgery, internal medicine, family practice, pathology, plastic surgery, wound care, outpatient podiatry clinics, inpatient podiatry management, and foot and ankle surgery.
