Scheduling M4 Electives

The policy of Advocate Health is to only accept students currently attending medical schools with Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accreditation.

Advocate Health Care does not provide opportunities for visitors as medical observers in its hospitals, clinics or physician offices.

Elective rotations do not require an affiliation agreement.

For students of affiliated schools (Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science/Chicago Medical School, Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Illinois Chicago, Des Moines University) the elective schedule will open March 1 at 7:00 am CT for the upcoming academic year.  

For students of non-affiliated schools (must be LCME or AOA accredited), the elective schedule will open March 15 at 7:00 am CT for the upcoming academic year. 

Please email your request to Tammi Bauske at Tammi.Bauske@aah.org and include all of the following information:

  • Name, school name, M4 status, email address, and phone number
  • Confirmation your school is LCME or AOA accredited

    • The policy of Advocate Health Care is to only accommodate students for required or elective rotations who are from schools with the following accreditations:

      MD students must be enrolled in a school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).

      DO students must be enrolled in a school accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

  • Field of medicine/residency you expect to enter upon graduation
  • Preferred Pediatrics sub-specialty rotation (Cardiology, Developmental Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology-Oncology, Infectious Disease, NICU, PICU, Pulmonology).  Please list in order of preference.
  • Preferred date of rotation (please note: all rotations are 4 weeks, no exceptions) Please list in order of preference.

Requests for second rotations will be considered beginning in June of each academic year. Due to limited openings, additional rotations will be considered by application process. Please contact Tammi Bauske at Tammi.Bauske@aah.org for further information.

You will receive an email confirmation once you are scheduled.
