Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center serves as one of Chicago’s largest and premier maternity centers. The Ruth M. Seay Center for Women and Infants provides a comfortable and modern setting for women in the bustling Lakeview neighborhood. The focus is on providing comprehensive care for both low risk and high risk pregnancies, while maintaining a family oriented experience. The broad scope of our program is exemplified by the tradition of our Midwifery program, one of the first hospital-based Midwifery programs in the Midwest. At the other end of the spectrum, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical center is designated as a level III Perinatal Center. This designation affirms our ability to provide the highest level of Maternity and Newborn care. Residents are exposed to a diverse patient population while gaining extensive experience in surgical obstetrics, vaginal deliveries, and care of high risk pregnancies including multiple gestations. Residents rotate through obstetrics during each year of their residency. Supervision is provided by an In-house obstetrician at all times, while graduated autonomy is encouraged. By their fourth year, residents are comfortable not only managing the resident Ob Service, but they are also adept consultants for Midwives and Family Practitioners. Outpatient Obstetrical experience is gained through the residency continuity clinic, located at the nearby Wilton Medical Office Center.
