Why Masonic: I was able to come to Masonic for a psychiatry clerkship during my third year of medical school, and really enjoyed my experience. Many of my classmates in medical school had various rotations here and all felt the same, it was always a great experience and seemed like a great place to train! After interviewing with the program, I immediately felt very comfortable. Everyone was welcoming, enjoyed having genuine conversations, and seemed to promote wellness while still working hard.
I felt I would get well-rounded and robust training with a diverse patient population in a safe, friendly, and fun environment. It didn't hurt that the hospital was in a great location and meant that I could stay in Chicago for a few more years!
Professional Interests: One of the reasons I chose Family Medicine is because I honestly love all aspects of medicine! I hope to narrow down some interests, but for now I am interested in behavioral health, pediatrics, women's health/reproductive health, community health, preventative medicine, health equity, and integrating public health with clinical practice.
Personal Interests: Reading, tennis, badminton, playing board games, watching movies/shows, spending time with family/friends, and traveling (when possible)

Why Masonic: I chose Masonic for many reasons. The main reason is the location of the program. Rotating in the Chicagoland area during my third and fourth years of medical school, I immediately fell in love with the Lakeview area and I knew I wanted to complete residency there. The hospital is located among the nicest restaurants, parks, and the lake! Masonic also offers a variety of tracks and opportunities that would help me achieve my goal of becoming a well-rounded physician who provides culturally competent care to a diverse patient population.
Additionally, my interview day made it evident that the program fosters an environment of support and inclusivity.

Why Masonic: As soon as I met the FM team on interview day, I knew that this program was a perfect fit for me. Although it may seem cliché, I felt a warmth and sense of comfort from the faculty and residents that I hadn’t felt anywhere else. Most of us going into FM want to practice patient-centered care, and I quickly learned that the program emulates this externally through patient care, but also internally by embracing each team member as a unique individual. Your story matters here! If you want a group that allows you to learn a LOT and also manage to have fun doing so, you found it.
Along with the fantastic interpersonal connections, I appreciated that the program offered so many different tracks for residents to design an experience that prepares them for their individualized idea of future practice. The way the program is structured, especially the ample time given to interns to become familiar and comfortable in their new role, is something unique to Masonic that I knew would help me transition into residency. Lastly, the Northside of Chicago is a diverse place, and I knew that I wanted to train in a place where I could care for all different walks of life. I couldn’t be happier with my choice (and that they chose me too!)

Why Masonic: During my search for a residency program, I was particularly drawn to one that emphasized a robust women's health track. At Masonic, I discovered a program that excels in this area while providing numerous opportunities to venture into other branches of medicine. Masonic's faculty and staff left a lasting impression by being exceptionally inclusive and embracing diversity. During the Second Look, I was truly inspired by everyone's passion and dedication to their fields. I also love the location of the hospital!
