Program mission statement

Mission statement

Internal medicine challenges the physician to combine comprehensive care of patients with the highest level of medical expertise. Our goal in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center is to train superb clinicians who provide patient care with compassion and dedication. We are committed to providing an outstanding educational experience and fostering the personal and professional development of each of our residents. We do this by combining growth in clinical responsibility with focused education in a supportive, collegial teaching environment.

AIMMC is a busy urban community teaching hospital with a tradition of clinical excellence. Our patients represent a broad spectrum of cultural and socio-economic diversity with a wide range of medical conditions. Resident education incorporates ambulatory experience, general medicine floors, subspecialty electives and intensive care training. Superb teaching at the bedside and in clinical conferences is supplemented by a state-of-the-art simulation lab.

Competent, compassionate, board-certified internists are in tremendous demand by patients and by subspecialty training programs. Training at AIMMC, among the best community hospital based internal medicine residencies in the upper Midwest, prepares residents to enter medical practices of the future.
