For Medical Students

The Department of Anesthesiology hosts a four-week Clerkship to fourth-year medical students. This is open to accredited schools. We are unable to host international students at this time. Students will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of perioperative patient care, from preoperative evaluation to postoperative management including pain management. We provide a rich and comprehensive didactic program, including Simulation experiences, faculty lectures, key word presentations, Morbidity and Mortality discussions, and Grand Rounds, to name some. Students will be introduced to all facets of the practice of Anesthesiology. We also offer a separate rotation in Pain management. We welcome you to explore our program further and look forward to hosting you.

Advocate Health Care holds a policy that we only accept students who attend medical schools with Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accreditation.

Advocate Health Care does not provide opportunities for visitors as medical observers in its hospitals, clinics or physician offices. Only M4s will be allowed to rotate in elective rotations.

For the medical students who are applying to the anesthesiology residency program, please use your signals.

We will use signals as part of our initial application review process to determine which candidates will be invited for interviews. Once the interview invitations have been extended, all signal-related information is removed from the applications. Our interviewers conduct the interviews without any knowledge of these signals, ensuring an unbiased evaluation of each candidate’s qualifications.

While signals play a valuable role in the initial phase of our recruitment process, it’s important to note that sending a signal does not guarantee an interview invitation. We do receive a significantly higher number of signals than we have available interview slots. To reiterate, our review will consist of signaled applicants.
