Our home infusion team

Advocate Health at Home infusion specialists work closely with you, your family and your doctor to ensure we are meeting your clinical needs as well as helping you achieve your health goals. Our team members include:

• Clinical pharmacists who are trained to manage all infusion therapies and monitor your care plan.
• Specialized nurses who are trained in infusion therapy
• Dietitians who assist with complex nutritional requirements
• IV technicians who assist with IV therapies and are licensed by the state as well as certified in compounding sterile processing techniques

Continuity of care

At Advocate Health at Home, we understand that having a trusted health care professional is important. That’s why you are cared for by one nurse who specializes in both your home health and infused chemotherapy needs.

Our services

Our Advocate Health at Home infusion specialists provide a wide range of services, including:  

• Coordinate chemotherapy at home with a 4-hour turnaround from receiving a physician’s order
• Ensure patient safety, following strict reaction protocols that allow (when possible) for first dose of therapy to be given at home
• Determine the most effective administration method for each patient
• Continually assess the effectiveness of treatments and monitor patients for signs of adverse reactions
• Communicate regularly with physicians regarding your health status and recommend treatment changes if needed
• Provide other supportive, infusion therapy services for cancer patients including:
  • Colony-stimulating factors
  • IV patient-controlled analgesia (PCA)
  • Anti-emetic therapies
  • Nutrition and fluid balance support
  • Anti-infective support
  • Hydration
