As students and supervisors within Advocate Health Care engage in programs of Clinical Pastoral Education, certain rights pertain to both.
Education records at this ACPE CPE System Center include a copy of the student’s final evaluation, the supervisor’s final evaluation, and the face sheet of the student’s application. These records are kept for ten years. This ACPE CPE System Center guarantees students the right to inspect and review education records, to seek to amend them, to specified control over release of record information, and to file a complaint against the program for alleged violations of these Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) rights.
Students have the right to object to the content of their educational record. If a resolution is not negotiable, a student’s written objection will be kept with and released with the educational record. Grades and Outcome scores are exempted from this right.
The CPE Director, the CPE Coordinator and ACPE accreditation reviewers are the only people beyond the student’s Supervisor or Supervisory Candidate who have access to the student’s records without the expressed permission of the student. Violations of this protocol may be reported to the Chair of the Accreditation Commission at: ACPE, The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education, 1 Concourse Pkwy, Suite 800, Atlanta, GA 30328
Students may request copies of their education record by emailing the CPE Manager Midwest Region: yonason.meadows@aah.org.
