Advanced bone marrow transplant options

Our experienced specialists perform the latest bone marrow transplant techniques, including:

  • Allogeneic transplants: A patient receives stem cells from a donor who is considered a match.
  • Autologous transplants: A patient's own stem cells are collected before high-dose chemotherapy and then returned to them after the treatment.
  • Syngeneic transplants: A patient receives stem cells from their identical twin.
  • Cord blood transplants: A patient receives stem cells from a donated umbilical cord.

Preparing for the procedure:

Stem cells can be taken from the blood stream (peripheral blood stem cells) or from bone marrow. Learn how to prepare for the procedure, or see our patient and family handbook [PDF] or glossary of common transplant medical terms for more information.

CAR T-cell therapy

We are one of a select number of centers in the U.S. that is authorized to perform CAR T-cell (chimeric antigen receptor T-lymphocyte cell) therapy, which harnesses the patient’s own T-cells to recognize and eliminate cancer cells. This type of therapy is indicated for patients with relapsed or refractory (resistant) non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. Dr. Tulio Rodriguez says, “CAR T-cell therapy is changing the treatment landscape for patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.”
