Minimally invasive ear, nose & throat procedures

The ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialists and surgeons at Advocate Health Care have pioneered advanced, minimally invasive treatments for ear, nose and throat conditions, including sleep apnea, thyroid disorders and sinusitis. When you need an ENT physician close to home, it's good to know that our otolaryngologists and ENT surgeons are accessible across Chicagoland.

Techniques & technology we use

The da Vinci Surgical System has revolutionized the way many surgeries are performed. Using small incisions, a high-definition 3D camera and tiny remotely controlled surgical tools, our surgeons perform surgeries with much higher precision and fewer side effects than traditional surgery.

The otolaryngologists at Advocate use the da Vinci Surgical System to treat a number of ear, nose and throat conditions, including:

  • Cancers of the throat and mouth
  • Sleep apnea and snoring
  • Thyroid disease
  • Sinusitis and other sinus conditions

Advocate's otolaryngology surgeons are among the first in the nation to use robotic surgery tools for the minimally invasive treatment of severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Called transoral robotic surgery, this new and effective alternative for treating obstructive sleep apnea allows for finely controlled throat tissue removal without the need for external incisions.

Balloon sinuplasty is an FDA-approved endoscopic technology that treats chronic sinus pain by inserting a small, flexible balloon into your sinuses. When inflated, the balloon gently widens the walls of your nasal passageway while delivering medication to the affected area.

This outpatient procedure takes only about 30 minutes, requires no anesthesia and allows you to resume your normal activities within 24 to 48 hours. Traditional sinus surgery usually involves a two-week recovery period and significantly more pain and bruising.
