Childhood Trauma Treatment Program

The Childhood Trauma Treatment Program provides a variety of clinical presentations and workshops at your location, based on your needs. Below is a summary of our presentations. Continuing education credits for LPCs, LSWs, and LCSWs are available for these presentations.

Prevention workshops

Stewards of children/5 steps to protecting our children
CTTP works with Stewards of Children to coordinate Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Workshops. This two-hour interactive multimedia workshop for adults provides knowledge, guidance and empowerment to prevent and respond appropriately to child sexual abuse. This workshop is an evidence-based program that includes a variety of handouts, workbooks and resources for adults to take home.

Childhood sexual abuse
This 30-minute presentation defines childhood sexual abuse, explores facts regarding abuse, reviews ways to minimize opportunities for abuse and discusses ways to react to disclosure of abuse.

Clinical presentations

Understanding, assessing and treating child and adolescent trauma and sexual abuse
This one- to four-hour presentation for clinicians addresses child and adolescent sexual abuse and trauma. Topics covered can include:

  • Defining trauma
  • Factors influencing traumatic responses in children and adolescents
  • Common psychological and behavioral reactions in children following abuse
  • Signs and symptoms of child sexual abuse
  • Ways to appropriately react to abuse
  • The long-term impact of sexual abuse
  • Best practices related to assessment and counseling/treatment services for trauma and sexual abuse

Presentations can also focus on the developmental level of the child and adolescent and its impact on trauma, differential diagnoses and ways to parent traumatized children. Additional topics may also be incorporated into presentations as well.

Understanding and responding to child and adolescent sexual abuse and sexual behavior problems in school settings
This is a one- to two-hour-plus presentation for school personnel on how school staff can address potential child abuse and children's sexually inappropriate behaviors in the school setting. Ways to appropriately manage these issues as well as educational services needed for students with sexual abuse histories and/or sexual behavior problems are also discussed.
