Your provider might order blood work as part of an exam to better understand your health and to keep you healthy. At ACL Laboratories, we’re here to help you and your provider find the answers you need for your health.

How to get lab work

Orders are required for lab services. After your provider orders lab work, you can walk in to get tests at most of our ACL Laboratories locations. You also can save time by using the Get in line feature, which lets you choose when and where to come in.

If you’d like to come in at a later date, some lab locations offer scheduling over the phone. You also can walk in or use the Get in line feature on the day you’re available to get lab work. Patients who use the Get in line feature receive priority service over people who walk in for labs.

If you receive a written order from your provider, remember to bring it with you.

Note our locations may be closed or have modified hours on major holidays including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Things to know about laboratory services

At ACL Laboratories, we provide medical laboratory tests to help your provider better understand your health and develop a treatment plan if the test finds something. Testing also offers a baseline for monitoring any changes to your health in the future.

Anyone may come in for lab tests, even if you aren't an Advocate Health Care patient. You’ll just need an order for medical testing from your provider.

Yes, you can search and view locations near you, then select Get in line to pick a time and location that works best for you. You can choose to come in now or find a time that works best for you later today or tomorrow.

Lab services and specialty tests vary by location. Please check with individual locations if you have any questions. Medical testing may include:

  • Allergy testing
  • Complete blood count
  • Glucose tolerance test
  • Lipid panel
  • Routine blood work
  • Specimen collection
  • Chemistry panel
  • Women’s health testing

Before getting blood work or medical tests, be sure to:

  • Have a lab order from your provider
  • Follow any guidelines from your provider, such as fasting
  • Let staff know if you have latex allergies
  • Bring your ID and insurance card
