Your pain treatment will begin with a physical exam and thorough evaluation of your medical history. This may involve a series of diagnostic tests to rule out other conditions that present similar symptoms. Based on the results, our pain management specialists will develop a personalized treatment plan made for your specific case.
What is chronic pain?
Chronic pain is persistent pain that lasts longer than three months or beyond the expected period of healing and is not relieved by standard medical management. Often with chronic pain, lifestyles can be restricted or even impossible. Chronic pain can be anything from the dull pain related to headaches to pain that originated with trauma to the neck or back from an old sports injury or accident. The physical effects can include tense muscles, limited mobility, a change in appetite and an overall lack of energy. Prolonged physical effects can lead to emotional issues such as depression, anger and anxiety.
What is a pain management specialist?
A pain management specialist is a doctor board certified in pain management and frequently also board certified in additional disciplines such as anesthesiology, neurology or physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Is a referral needed for your program?
A referral from your primary care physician is encouraged before participating in our program. Insurance coverage will be verified by our staff if any procedures are needed. Most insurances are accepted.
