For the fourth, consecutive, four-year period in a row, Advocate Christ Medical Center has been designated a “Magnet” institution by the Commission on Magnet Recognition of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). In April, 2005, Advocate Christ Medical Center became the first Advocate hospital to receive the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) prestigious Magnet designation.
Magnet designation is the gold standard by which nursing and patient care is measured, and is the highest honor and level of recognition ANCC awards for excellence in nursing services.
The Magnet Recognition Program distinguishes health care organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing and meet 88 sources of evidence for a redesignating hospital (116 sources of evidence for initial applicants). To achieve this prestigious status, the Magnet Recognition Program requires that a hospital undergo a rigorous evaluation of a three-day, on-site review by an ANCC survey team that includes extensive interviews with registered nurses, and a review of nursing services, clinical outcomes
