Where is the hospital located?

Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is located at 450 West Highway 22, Barrington, IL, 60010.

What are the visiting hours?

The following are Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital's visiting hours for all areas. Only a nurse may make exceptions.

  • Inpatient units: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
    Children visiting patients must be accompanied by an adult.
    For the safety and well-being of our patients, visitors with a cold, allergies or the flu should refrain from visiting. Vistation restrictions may be enforced during flu season for the safety of our patients.
    Please see below for exceptions to these visiting hours.
  • Birth Center: General visiting hours are 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 8 pm.
    3 p.m.- 5 p.m. is considered quiet time for our healing patients and their newborn child. The father or one other adult selected by the mother is allowed at all times.
    Siblins of the newborn can visit accompanied by another adult but cannot stay overnight.
  • Intensive care: Only members of the immediate family are permitted to visit. Visitors must be at least 12 years old to visit patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
    Visiting is permitted at the discretion of the primary nurse. The unit is closed to all visitors between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., and 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Pediatrics: Visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Parents or guardians may visit at any time, and one parent/guardian may stay overnight with the child.
    A day bed will be provided for the parent.

Main Entrance: Main destinations for using this entrance include;

  • Testing Center
  • Breast Care Center
  • Obstetrics
  • Health Management Center
  • Rehabilitation
  • Universal Care Unit (Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Catheterization)

Hours for the main entrance include:

Monday – Friday:  5:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Saturdays:  6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Sundays & Holidays: Closed

*Valet services are available at the main entrance:
Monday - Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Visitors who arrive after the main lobby is closed should proceed to the registration desk at the Emergency Department entrance. The registrar then will contact the unit to verify that the patient is accepting visitors.

Visiting hours are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week.

North Pavilion Entrance:  Main destinations for using this entrance include visiting for;

Hours for the north pavilion entrance include:

Monday – Friday:  7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Weekends & Holidays:  7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Visitors who arrive after the north pavilion is closed should proceed to the registration desk at the Emergency Department entrance. The registrar then will contact the unit to verify that the patient is accepting visitors.

Visiting hours are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week.

West Pavilion Entrance:
Main destinations for using this entrance include:

  • Integrative Medicine including Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, Health Coaching, Integrative Nutrition Counseling, Medical Massage, Mindfulness and Yoga.
  • GI/Endoscopy
  • Infusion

Hours for the west pavilion entrance include:

Monday to Friday:  6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturdays:  7:00 a.m. to Noon
Sundays & Holidays:  Closed

Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Direct Admissions come to the ED

Testing Center Hours:

Monday through Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Lab Hours:

Monday through Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Parking

Parking for patients and visitors is available in parking lot A. Some additional parking areas are designated for specific clinics. Free parking is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Please see map for additional parking areas.  

Complimentary valet parking is available seasonally from November through May. For Medi-car services from June through October, please contact your insurance provider for covered services. Two local transportation services are Good Shepherd’s Courtesy Van run by Superior: 844-574-5700 or
Pace Dial-a-Ride Service: 800-273-5939.

Valet hours:
Main Entrance: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What dining and food services are available?

The cafeteria is on the ground floor near the Main Entrance. The Grab and Go is on the first floor at the North Pavilion Entrance. There is an ATM located at the Main Entrance near the cafeteria.

Cafeteria:  Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Closed:  Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Grab and Go:  Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to Midnight

Saturdays, Sundays and holidays   6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

What other amenities are available?

Pear Tree Gift Shop

The Pear Tree Gift Shop is located on the first floor of the main entrance.  Visitors can shop in person or online. The gift shop can also deliver same-day flowers to anyone in the hospital. In the intensive care areas, check with the unit whether gifts are appropriate for patients.

What about spiritual care?

The chapel is located off the West Pavilion Entrance on the first floor and is open 24 hours a day. The cornerstone of our mission as a faith-based hospital is caring for the whole person: body, mind and spirit. Our goal is to provide excellent patient care. That includes meeting your spiritual needs. The chaplains are available to provide emotional and spiritual support to you and to members of your family.
