Cancer genetic risk assessment

If you have a family history of cancer, Advocate Condell offers an on-site cancer genetics program, including genetic testing and cancer risk assessments to address any concerns. Specialized pathology testing can identify specific genes related to breast, colon, ovarian and other cancers with a hereditary link. Our board-certified genetic counselors will walk through the results with you, discuss next steps and refer you to a specialist, if needed.

Innovative Radiation Therapy: Advocate Condell's newly renovated Radiation Oncology Center features some of the most comprehensive radiation therapy options available in Lake County, including RapidArc radiotherapy, image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and high-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy. This technology allows us to target tumors with unmatched precision, while minimizing damage to healthy tissue and side effects.

Outpatient infusion center

If your doctor recommends chemotherapy as part of your treatment plan, our Infusion Center offers a convenient and comfortable experience, right inside the hospital. You can relax during treatments while being tended to by oncology certified nurses to provide the specialized care you need.

The Center offers a full range of IV therapies, antibiotics, blood transfusion and injection services. We provide both proven and newer medications like intraperitoneal chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, which directly targets cancer cells in the abdomen while reducing drug exposure to healthy tissues.

3D mammograms: Also called tomosynthesis, this advanced breast cancer screening tool can pinpoint the size, shape and location of anything suspicious, and help distinguish harmless abnormalities from real tumors – leading to less stress and fewer callbacks.

Same-day mammograms, same-day results: With your busy life, it’s not always easy to make your health a priority. That’s why we can often see you the same day you schedule your appointment. Better detection for women with breast implants: Because implants can interfere with imaging breast tissue, we offer a screening-with-implants mammography. This special technique takes several detailed pictures to maximize visualization of breast tissue.

Stereotactic breast biopsy: Stereotactic biopsy uses a special computerized machine to pinpoint the any suspicious areas following a mammography. The procedure removes a small tissue sample through a hollow needle passed through the skin, which your pathologist will assess to determine if the area is benign or cancerous. We also offer advanced breast MRI, sentinel lymph node biopsy, ultrasound core biopsy and more to confirm a diagnosis.

Breast health navigator: We understand that a breast concern can be a time of uncertainty and anxiety.
