Advocate partnership

About our partnership with Advocate

In June 2013, Sherman Hospital officially joined with Advocate Health Care, the largest health care system in Illinois. Now known as Advocate Sherman Hospital, the beautiful campus at 1425 N. Randall Road in Elgin is an ideal combination of community hospital and national health system.

"The coming together of one of the nation's top community hospitals and one of the nation's leading health systems is a big win for our community," said Rick Jakle, chairman of the Sherman Health Board of Directors. "Sherman's 125-year history of providing quality care and service to our community is enhanced by Advocate's nationally-recognized name and best practices."

Sherman originally considered expressions of interest from over a dozen potential partners. From the initial discussions to the official switch to Advocate Sherman Hospital, the relationship between the two networks has blossomed thanks to mutual respect.

"From the inception of our partnership discussions, our respect for the Sherman team and their accomplishments and capabilities has only increased," said Jim Skogsbergh, president and chief executive officer of Advocate Health Care. "We share numerous core values, including a commitment to health outcomes and patient safety and a commitment to the communities we are privileged to serve."

Advocate Health Care is the largest health system in Illinois with 10 acute care hospitals, the state's largest integrated children's network, five Level I trauma centers, two Level II trauma centers, the state's largest home health care company and more than 6,000 affiliated physicians. Advocate Sherman Hospital brings seven major sites of care, including a skilled nursing and inpatient rehabilitation facility and additional Level II trauma center, approximately 2,200 associates and 600 physicians.
